Processions, religious congregations and special prayers marked the birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), celebrated as Milad-Un-Nabi across the state, especially in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on Friday.
Led by religious leaders, hundreds of Muslims youth took out Milad processions from different localities. Small processions from different areas in the Old City merged into the large procession at Mecca Masjid where Qutba-e-Milaad was recited. Similar processions were also taken out from different localities in other parts of the city. The organisers at most places also ensured that the processions end before the Friday prayers. However, in some areas, small processions were taken out after Friday prayers.
Relics of Holy Prophet Muhammad were also displayed at Mecca Masjid, Masjid-e-Shattariya, Quadri Chaman, Dargah-e-Yousufain, Siddiq Gulshan and a few other places in the city.
Decorative arches and models of 'Khana Ka'aba' and 'Roza-e-Rasool' (peace be upon him) were erected at several places. Banners inscribed with Quranic verses, Hadith and poetic verses were displayed during the procession. Muslims gathered in large numbers to recite special prayers in all the mosques. Green buntings, flags and banners adorned the roads all over the city.
The Milaad-un-Nabi celebrations began from Thursday evening. Nearly two lakh people attended the public meeting Jalsa-e-Rahmatulil Aalameen at Darussalaam which was addressed by prominent religious leaders from across the country, and also by some guest speakers from Pakistan. MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who was released from Sangareddy Jail on Thursday evening, delivered a comprehensive speech covering the importance of Milaad-un-Nabi while "explaining" the prevailing political circumstances in the state. The Darussalaam meeting went on till early hours.
On Friday, the largest congregation was seen at Nizam College Grounds where the All India Majlis-e-Tameer Millat organised the Jalsa-e-Rahmatulil Alameen.
Elaborate security arrangements were made by the City Police to ensure peaceful conduct during the celebrations. (INN)
