Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that the State government had no role in organising the Lionel Messi GOAT India Tour 2025 event scheduled for December 13 at the Uppal stadium in Hyderabad.
He explained that Messi was attending an event hosted by a well-known private organisation, and that he too had received an invitation from the organisers in his capacity as Chief Minister.
He added that the government was extending full support in view of the visit of a distinguished global athlete.
He also said that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had been invited to the match.
As part of the GOAT India Tour 2025, the Argentine football legend will visit India for three days, with scheduled stops in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi on December 13, 14 and 15.
After completing his engagements in Kolkata on December 13, Messi is expected to arrive in Hyderabad, where he plans to play a football match with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's team at the Uppal stadium. In view of Messi's visit and the presence of prominent personalities, the police are making stringent security arrangements.
