Megha Wins Rs 12,800 Crore EPC Contract From NPCIL
Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd today announced that it had emerged as the lowest bidder for the EPC contract by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India.
Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) today announced that it had emerged as the lowest bidder for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) under the Department of Atomic Energy, and had thus won the the highest value tender ever called for by the NPCIL.
The prestigious project involves the construction of 2 x 700 MW electrical reactors at Kaiga in Karnataka, and represents a significant milestone in India's journey towards clean and reliable nuclear energy.
The project saw the introduction of the Quality cum Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) methodology. This process ensured an evaluation of technical expertise and cost-effectiveness for all proposals.
The tendering process began in May 2023, with the technical bid opening in October 2023. The competitive bidding process saw participation from prominent industry leaders BHEL, L&T and MEIL. MEIL emerged as the lowest bidder, demonstrating its exceptional technical capabilities and cost-efficiency by submitting the lowest bid of Rs 12,799.92 crore.
