Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today said that true social justice could be achieved only through a comprehensive caste census conducted at the national level.
He made these remarks at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad after unveiling the book "Caste Census: Deepening of Social Justice".
The event was attended by the book's authors G Kiran Kumar, National President of the All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) and a research scholar at the University of Hyderabad, along with Dr Vahini Billu.
The authors said that the book focused on the significance of caste enumeration in strengthening democratic governance and deepening social justice.
On the occasion, Vikramarka emphasised the importance of collecting detailed data on the social, educational and economic conditions of all communities as part of the national census.
He said that the comprehensive caste survey conducted by the Telangana government had set an example for the country and could serve as a guiding model for implementing a nationwide caste census.
Following the book launch, the Deputy Chief Minister also held a meeting with representatives of BC teachers, professionals and intellectuals, students of the BC Joint Action Committee and members of the All India OBC Students Association.
