Medical Examinations Ordered For All Telangana Gurukul Students
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar today ordered medical examinations for all the students studying in the BC, SC, ST, minority and Gurukul schools.

Minister for BC Welfare and Transport Ponnam Prabhakar today ordered medical examinations for all the students studying in the BC, SC, ST, minority and Gurukul schools in Telangana.
Terming the deaths of two Gurukul students in Peddapur Social Welfare School of Metpalli mandal of Jagtial district after experiencing severe stomach pain as unfortunate, the minister said in a statement posted on X that the State government was taking all precautionary measures to ensure that the incidents that happened in the district were not repeated, and to ensure that hostels and classrooms were clean.
He said that against the backdrop of the increasing incidence of seasonal diseases during the rainy season, he had advised the officials to take precautionary measures for the students studying in the Gurukul schools.
"Water tanks should be cleaned in every school, and all possible precautions should be taken regarding drinking water," he said. The Principals of the Gurukul schools had also been instructed to keep the school premises clean, he said.
He also said that officials had been advised to conduct tests to monitor the hemoglobin and vitamin D levels for the children. The minister added that if any student was unwell, treatment should be given under the supervision of the ANM, and the height and weight of the child should be checked regularly and the details recorded.
In addition to focusing on providing good quality nutrition to the students, proper precautions also needed to be taken while cooking the food, Ponnam said.
The officials were also advised to educate the children about the cleanliness of their environment, classrooms and hostel rooms.
Prabhakar further said that the Collectors of all the districts needed to be vigilant and monitor the Gurukul schools in their respective areas from time to time to avoid a repeat of the incidents that happened Jagtial district.
