The accused in the Mecca Masjid bomb blast case, Naba Kumar Sarkar alias Swami Aseemanand and Bharat Bhai, were granted bail today.
It may be recalled that Aseemanand had been granted bail in the Ajmer and Samjautha Express bomb blast cases already. The police had originally arrested Aseemanand in 2010.
Hailing from Hugli in West Bengal, Aseemanand completed his post-graduation in botany. Opposing communist idealism, he shifted his base to Gujarat, after first working with Ramakrishna Mission for some time. He then set up an ashram in the Dang district of Gujarat, and changed his name to Swami Aseemanand. He used to conduct meetings, touring as a strong Hindutvavadi, before eventually reportedly turning radical and planning terror attacks.
