Expressing shock over the verdict in the sensational Mecca Masjid bomb blast case of 2007, MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi today alleged that several prosecution witnesses had changed their stands and turned hostile after the Narendra Modi-led NDA government came to power at the Centre.
Most of the witnesses could not give cogent and convincing statements, he claimed.
Owaisi tweeted: "Most of the witnesses changed their stand since June 2014. The NIA didn't take the case forward in the expected manner. Political gurus didn't allow the NIA inquiry forward. Justice was not done in the case. (sic)"
Owaisi pointed out that the NIA and the Modi-led government did not even appeal against the bail given to the accused within the stipulated 90 days.
"Our fight against terrorism has been weakened with today's acquittals," he said.
