The much-awaited cabinet expansion by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will finally take place on February 19. And with the muhurat for the event fixed, the speculation as to who will be inducted has reached a feverish pitch in the political corridors of Telangana.
According to highly placed sources of the ruling TRS, the cabinet will have about nine members. It is being widely stated that KCR will pick one leader each from the different undivided districts of the state except Medak, Ranga Reddy and Khammam in the upcoming first phase of the cabinet expansion. The sources add that most of previous cabinet ministers will not get a second term.
KCR is reported to have finalised the names of senior MLAs Errabelli Dayakar Rao (Warangal), Alolla Indrakaran Reddy (Nirmal), Koppula Eeswar (Jagtiyal), Vemula Prashant Reddy (Nizamabad), Talasani Srinivas Yadav (Hyderabad), S Niranjan Reddy (Wanaparthy), Padma Devendar Reddy (Medak), Gutta Sukhender Reddy (Nalgonda) and Rekha Naik ((Asifabad).
While speculation is rife that the son of the CM and the party's Working President KTR, and KCR's nephew T Harish Rao will not be inducted into the cabinet for varied reasons, people close to the CM are saying that both of them will indeed find a place in the cabinet.
There are reports that former ministers Etala Rajender, G Jagadish Reddy and T Padma Rao Goud are also likely to be considered for cabinet berths. However certain internal issues like the selection of the candidate for the Choppadandi Assembly segment is said to be going against Etala. It is also being widely speculated that Padma Rao Goud may get the Deputy Speaker's post if he doesn't make it to the cabinet.
