Hundreds of tonnes of mangoes have flooded the Gaddi Annaram market in the city.
Farmers from the two Telugu-speaking states - Andhra Pradesh and Telangana - have brought around 1,600 tonnes of mangoes to the market.
The farmers brought mangoes in such large quantities due to the announcement of the officials of the marketing department that they would shut down the market for three consecutive days due to the increase in the total number of coronavirus cases in the state capital.
Concerned at this, the farmers decided to dispose of their stocks immediately.
Due to the huge inflow, the officials of the market yard have now begun steps to sell all the mangoes before midnight today.
Meanwhile, the marketing department is planning to launch a sale of the mangoes at the newly-built Koheda market yard from April 27.
