A super-speciality hospital in Guntur district has been a long-pending and overdue demand, and the CM's sanction for setting up one at Mangalagiri near the Tuberculosis Sanatorium has been well-received by the people of Guntur.
Prominent among them is minister for rural development and NREGS Doka Manikya Varaprasad Rao, who extended his gratitude to the chief minister.
Varaprasad Rao, while expressing his gratitude, praised Kiran Kumar Reddy for sanctioning 75 acres of land for the purpose.
Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat on Monday, the minister said that there was a lengthy agitation for the much sought-after institution, and that at last the demand of the people of Guntur people has been granted.
The new super-speciality is an extension of the existing hospital in Vijayawada.
Referring to the ongoing program under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), the minister said work on the program has been kick-started on priority. He said that the 100-day program has been dispensed with, and that it has been stretched to 3 years, and that efforts are on to continue it to benefit the poor.
