Vakeel Saab, a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan hit
Pink, have landed in a soup after a resident of Hyderabad's Panjagutta area, Sudhakar, yesterday lodged a complaint with the Punjagutta Police against them.
The man was reportedly forced to take legal action after a scene in the film used his mobile phone number - in his complaint, Sudhakar notified the police that the makers, Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations, had used his number in Vakeel Saab without first seeking his permission to do so.
The scene in question is one where one of the female characters in the film, Anjali, faces horrific abuse after her phone number (which happens to be Sudhakar's actual number) is shared publicly by the villains alongside a morphed picture of her. Since the number is clearly visible in the scene, the complainant claims that following the release of the film, the illegal usage of his phone number has led him to become the victim of many abusive phone calls.
The complainant urged the police to take legal action against the makers of the film. However, sources suggest that the police have not yet registered a case on the issue so far.
This is the second time that a Dil Raju mega-project is facing allegations of unfairly using personal data - earlier this year, the producer's film V was removed from the online streaming platform Amazon Prime after a Mumbai-based model registered a complaint alleging that a picture of her's was shown in the film without her consent. She was reportedly shown as a sex worker in the offending scene.
