Man Hurt During Careless Demolition Drive

In a case of criminal negligence by Revenue officials, a person sleeping in a house suffered grievous injuries and is battling for his life in a hospital.

According to information, some poor people were living in Devendernagar under the Jawaharnagar limits in Secunderabad after building small houses. Declaring the houses as unauthorized, Revenue officials launched demolition of the structures on Saturday morning.

The officials started the demolition with a JBC machine without confirming whether any persons were still inside the houses. As they were felling a house, one Srinivas, who was sleeping, suddenly screamed when a wall fell on him.

Shocked by the screams, the officials realized their mistake and shifted the grievously injured man to a hospital at Dammaiguda.

The condition of the injured is stated to be critical.

The local residents expressed displeasure saying the officials were playing with the lives of the poor people with their negligence.
