Man From Tamil Nadu Held For Duping Job-Seekers

Karmaghil Devagi Anbu James alias Moghil/James had been cheating unemployed youth on the pretext of providing visas to and jobs in Dubai and Iran.
Hyderabad | 20th January 2018
The Hyderabad Cyber Crime police arrested one Karmaghil Devagi Anbu James alias Moghil/James who had been cheating unemployed youth and their agents on the pretext of providing visas to and jobs in Dubai and Iran.

The accused had reportedly collected an amount nearly equalling Rs 37 lakhs through such fraud.

The police registered a case under Sections 420, 406 and 120-B of the IPC, and Sec 66 (C)(D) of the ITA Act against the accused who is a 23-year-old resident of Karatadipalayam, Gobichettipalam, Erode, Tamil Nadu, and started investigation.

The fraudster came under the police radar when one Kanthi Anand, an agent of a consultancy and a resident of Shanthi Nagar, stated in her complaint filed by the cops on July 21, 2016, that she had been cheated by the accused to the tune of Rs 37 lakhs on the pretext of her clients being provided jobs and work visas.

The accused had contacted Anand and had convinced her that he would help her provide visas and jobs in Dubai and Iran for her clients, and in the process had collected a total of Rs 37 lakhs from her. However, he failed to provide the promised jobs and visas.

The accused had contacted the complainant from the email addresses merchentnavy444@gmail.com and merchantnevyjobs2014@gmail.com, and mobile number 971552657650.

Upon interrogation by the cops, the fraudster revealed his modus operandi: he would collect the mobile numbers of consultancy agents from social websites and establish contact with them, then fool them by saying that by working together they could provide visas and jobs in Dubai and Iran to the agents' clients, and once the victims' trust had been gained, collect huge sums of money from them and flee. In this manner, he is said to have cheated many people all over India.
