Former minister Dr. P Shankar Rao, on Monday, appealed to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to pass a resolution in the Congress Legislature Party meeting demanding that AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi be made the prime minister of the country.
In a letter faxed to Congress core committee members, Shankar Rao opined that the Congress would be strengthened if Rahul Gandhi becomes the PM.
He also said that the party would win a huge majority of seats in the 2014 general elections.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly, he said that Rahul Gandhi's leadership and direction are "very important" for the country at this crucial juncture.
Shankar Rao also appealed to Sonia Gandhi to take an early decision on making Rahul Gandhi the PM.
He faxed letters to Sonia Gandhi, her political advisor Ahmed Patel, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, in-charge of state affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad, and other leaders. (INN)
