Major Changes In Districts Post-Reorganization

The Telangana government delimited the State in 31 districts, which resulted in some major changes in its map and administration.
Hyderabad | 11th October 2016
The Telangana government completed the reorganization of the State's districts finally two years after bifurcation. The process was done between 11:13 am and 12:30 pm. As per reports, this time period was chosen as per the CM's belief in astrology.

Several big and small changes had been made and administration conundrums had been solved with this, as per experts.

Some of the major changes made and their results expected are:

1. Instead of just dividing one district into several minor districts, the government has broken down several districts, reshuffled them and merged them with other districts in a bid to make the population density of the Telangana more uniform (for ease of welfare and development funding)

2. Eight districts have been formed out of the Mahabubnagar district and the Ranga Reddy districts.

3. Vikarabad was partly cut out and made a new district, with one part still in RR and the other in Mahabubnagar. Old Mahabubnagar still gets to keep Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Jogulamba,

4. The Medchal-Malkajgiri and Shamshabad districts have been carved out of erstwhile Ranga Reddy.

5. Another major change was overlapping four large districts. Two of these have been carved out of three districts along old Khammam in the east to old Medak in the west; The Jayashankar district still has a part each in erstwhile Medak, Khammam and Karimnagar; Siddipet still has a part each in old Medak, Karimangar and Warangal; Mahbubabad overlaps old Warangal and Khammam; while Jangaon overlaps Warangal and Nalgonda.

6. Adilabad has been split into new Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Asifabad. Old Karimnagar was also divided into four - new Karimnagar, Jagtiyal, Pedapalli, Sircilla; old Nalgonda into three - Suryapet, Yadadri and Nalgonda.

Apart from these changes, the overall population per district in Telangana has dropped from 36 lakhs to 11 lakhs.
