In a ghastly road mishap, at least 14 labourers were killed on the spot, and another 6 received serious injuries, when a cement-laden lorry turned turtle near Bukkamuntalapadu (Nidamanuru mandal, Nalgonda district), on Tuesday.
According to the police, 12 bodies have been recovered from the accident spot, and 5 of the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
All the victims belonged to Halia village, but the identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.
The mishap took place when a lorry carrying 20 labourers was heading towards Halia from Miryalaguda.
Meanwhile, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed shock over the mishap, and expressed sympathies with the deceased families.
He directed officials to take up rescue operations immediately and provide better treatment to the injured. (INN)
