"A new and energized Loksatta Party will focus all its energies on enrolling lakhs of new members, and emerge as a mass party for the youth and women," Loksatta Party founder president Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan said.
Under the chairmanship of its national president Surendra Srivastava, the party at its 3-day national council meet discussed the action plan for this goal, and passed resolutions on organizational strategies to achieve it.
The conclave was attended by 200 delegates across 9 states.
"Though the Loksatta Party, with its unmatched ideology and orientation towards sustainable reforms, is influencing the national political discourse, it has so far been limited to the Telugu-speaking states," Dr JP said.
Therefore, he opined that there was a dire need for the party to expand its scope and turf to the entire nation, bringing the national interest to the fore.
A wide range of issues were discussed in the conclave, and some important decisions were made concerning organizational matters, electoral stances and leadership development.
The party decided to ensure that more youth and women should be inducted, and be given leadership based on their talent, to transform the party into an alternative that truly represented the aspirations of youth and women of current society.
The Loksatta Party should also be the natural platform for the weaker sections of the society, whose issues would be tackled head on.
The party already has a presence in AP, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Delhi, and is now are now trying to spread to MP, UP and Bihar.
Founder president Dr. JP, national president Surendra Srivastava and national general secretary Hyma Potineni spoke to the media today, and explained the details of this plenary that went on for 3 days starting from April 3, 2015.
Party president for Telangana Bandaru Ram Mohan Rao and national chairperson for the communications committee Srinivas Alavilli also participated in the conclave.
On the eve of the event, Dr. JP and Surendra launched the Loksatta e-paper.
A new membership program was launched where any supporter of the Loksatta Party could now become a member with zero membership fee.
Dr. JP also opined that LSP had been very systematic in its approach but without electoral results, and so from now on it would be practical in its approach to convert the public support into electoral victories. (INN)
