Reacting on the Union budget, Loksatta Party Founder-President Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan welcomed the Centre's attention on infrastructure, focus on rural sector, fiscal discipline, Corporate tax reduction, and MSME and IT relief at low-end.
However, there was no mention of real efforts for eradication of corruption, he noted. Digitization was a good step but is not a panacea, Narayan remarked.
"The Union government seems unwilling to deal with NPAs, poor balance sheets of corporates, and lower private investments," the Loksatta Party President said, adding that the main reason for political corruption was buying of votes. The real challenge was vote-buying, not party accounts, he said, and stressed the need for further systematic reforms.
