The Andhra Pradesh High Court, on Monday, served notices to the state government and the Anti-Corruption Bureau over the probe into the liquor syndicate.
The notices were issued after the High Court admitted a Public Interest Litigation filed by freedom fighter Devara, seeking directions to the government for an impartial probe into the liquor syndicate.
While serving notices, the court directed the government to submit the progress of the ACB's report on the liquor syndicates to the court in a sealed cover within 3 weeks, and adjourned the petition for next hearing, to 3 weeks from now.
In the PIL, the freedom fighter appealed to the court to issue directions for an impartial probe, as, he said, the ACB might be influenced by politicians.
He appealed to the court to order a judicial probe with a sitting High Court judge, to get all the details on the alleged nexus of politicians and the liquor syndicate. (INN)
