Noted Telugu film lyricist Vaddepalli Krishna passed away today.
He breathed his last this morning while undergoing treatment in NIMS.
Just two days back, the Telugu Film Writers' Association had honoured him with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Krishna was born in a weavers' family in Sircilla. He settled in Hyderabad's Nagole, and was employed as a postman. He wrote the famous song Nee Chupulona Virajaji Vaana in the film
Pilla Zamindar, and the famous Amba Sambhavi song in the movie Bhairava Dweepam. He also played a key role in the Telangana movement.
Krishna also directed two films. Saikumar played the lead role in his film Ekkadiki Velutundo Manasu, in which he himself acted, too. He also directed and produced the short film Gobhagyam which won many awards internationally.
Krishna wrote hundreds of songs in his career, most of which were broadcast on All India Radio and Doordarshan, and received Nandi Awards for his work in the short films Bathukamma and Ramappa Ramaniyam. He also wrote more than 40 dance dramas, and published many books.
Many film personalities paid tributes to Krishna on his death, on social media platforms.
