A delegation of Telangana Congress leaders on Thursday called on Governor E S L Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan seeking action against touts and brokers who were misleading poor people in the name of the land regularisation drive launched by the state government.
The delegation comprised of former NDMA Vice-Chairman Marri Sashidhar Reddy, MLCs M S Prabhakar and Ranga Reddy, former MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav and GHMC former Mayor Banda Kartika Reddy.
Speaking to media persons later, they said that they had requested the Governor to order a CB-CID probe against the brokers who were cheating the common people in the name of the land regularisation drive.
They alleged that some brokers were collecting applications by promising free houses for the poor from the state government. They said that even unofficial forms were being sold to the people, and an impression was being created that they were official.
The Congress leaders urged the Governor to direct the Hyderabad District Collector to launch an awareness campaign to caution the people against the brokers. (INN)
