Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today asked the officials concerned to speed up the works of the ongoing irrigation projects in Siricilla district.
Speaking at a high-level review meeting that was attended by various officials including Principal Secretary (Irrigation) Rajat Kumar, the minister instructed the officials to develop Siricilla, his constituency, in every way.
KTR emphasised the importance of irrigation projects, and asked that all ongoing works of this kind be completed at the earliest. He also asked the officials to submit a report outlining a future course of action to expedite such projects.
The minister will reportedly call another meeting on the same matter in the near future again.
The Telangana government has been taking various steps to strengthen the livelihoods of the farmers of the state. Its emphasis on the completion of major irrigation works is part of these efforts.
Apart from this, the state government has also
released funds towards crop loan waivers for the benefit of the agrarian community.
Yesterday, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said that the KCR government had released Rs 100.70 crore for the waivers.
"The waiver will benefit 38,050 farmers. Our government has always been and will always remain committed to the welfare of the farmers. Despite the economic constraints posed by the pandemic, we have continued to support them through a number of schemes," he had explained.
