BRS working president K T Rama Rao today accused the Congress government of willfully neglecting the Kaleshwaram project citing safety issues while downplaying critical safety issues in other major irrigation projects.
In a post on X, KTR said that danger alerts had been issued recently for the Jurala project, the Manjeera barrage and the Singur dam, yet the government appeared indifferent.
"How can the government guarantee the safety of the Jurala project, Manjeera barrage or Singur dam without addressing necessary repairs, especially after the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) raised concerns?" he asked.
He said that leaders of both the Congress and the BJP routinely criticised the Kaleshwaram project but glossed over the urgency of repairs for other facilities.
He also said that both parties justified substantial repair works on other projects but portrayed the Kaleshwaram project negatively, focusing only on the two damaged pillars of the Medigadda barrage.
He said that repairs were routine for all projects and should not be politicised. All irrigation and drinking water projects needed to be repaired wherever necessary and safeguarded urgently for the benefit of Telangana's four crore residents, he said.
