Telangana Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said that the KCR government had released Rs 100.70 crore towards crop loan waivers for the benefit of the state's agrarian community.
"The waiver will benefit 38,050 farmers. Our government has always been and will always remain committed to the welfare of the farmers. Despite the economic constraints posed by the pandemic, we have continued to support them through a number of schemes," he added.
"We are now waiving off crop loans of Rs 1 lakh as well. This will alleviate the farmers' pecuniary burdens. These waivers are just one among our many farmer support programs. For the welfare of the farming community, we also extend aid at the rate of Rs 10,000 per acre on a yearly basis through the Rythu Bandhu scheme. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is determined to help the farmers double their income. Under his guidance, we have all been working towards this goal," the minister stated.
This announcement is an important one since the state Cabinet had assured the farmers that crop loans would be waived by the government by the end of this month.
The move to waive loans of Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh will be welcomed by the state's agrarian community because in the last two years, the TRS government had been waiving off loans of only Rs 25,000 due to the financial constraints caused by the pandemic.
