Telangana Municipal Administration and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao will reportedly inaugurate four link roads and participate in some development programs in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad tomorrow (June 28).
The officials of the HMDA and the GHMC have made the arrangements for the inauguration of the four roads.
It is being hoped that the link roads, built at a cost of Rs 27.43 crore, will go a long way in ameliorating the traffic problems caused by vehicular congestion on the arterial roads of the two cities.
The government took up several link road projects to ease traffic snarls and improve connectivity in the city - it planned to build more than 100 link roads, covering 126.20 km, to reduce traffic problems on the city's roads.
KTR himself had announced last year that 137 link roads would be laid in Hyderabad to improve urban connectivity and reduce traffic snarls. He had also stated that Rs 313.65 crore would be spent on the project, which would also help cut down on commute times and jams.
"Our aim is to reduce traffic problems as well as pollution. For the purpose the link roads are being developed on a priority," the minister had said.
