The Formula E race scheduled to be held in Hyderabad in February has been cancelled.
The fourth round of the race's season 10 was scheduled to be held on February 10 in Hyderabad, but the organisers have cancelled it.
Former minister K T Rama Rao reacted strongly to the cancellation. Taking to his Twitter handle, he said that it was a retrograde decision by the Congress government.
"This is truly a poor and regressive decision by the Congress government. Events like Hyderabad E-Prix enhance the brand image of our City and Country across the world. We had put in a lot of effort and time to bring Formula E-Prix for the first time to India (sic)," he said.
He said that the people of Telangana were eagerly waiting for the e-racing to be held again in February, and it was not right for the Congress government to cancel it. Such actions would cause damage to the image of the State among investors and in the world, he said.
Earlier, the organisers said that the municipal administration and urban development department of the State had violated the agreement signed on October 30 last year with the organisers, and that action would be taken in accordance with the host city agreement laws.
They added that the race would now be held in Hankuk of Mexico.
