Following Union Home Minister Amit Shah's Hindi language push, IT Minister & TRS working president K T Rama Rao on Saturday expressed resistance to accepting Hindi as an alternative language to English.
The minister reacted after Shah on Thursday said that the people in the States should communicate in Hindi and not English.
In a tweet, KTR slammed the statement of Shah forcing the people to speak in a particular language.
He said, "India is regarded as a land of unity in diversity. The phrase unity in diversity means a feeling of oneness and togetherness despite having a lot of diversity. Imposing any language forcibly is against that spirit. The wearing of costumes, food habits, offering of prayers and belief in a faith are personal choices of individuals. Nobody has the right to impose his or her interests on some others. We don't have any problem learning other languages, but a forcible imposition is not right," KTR said.
