Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today participated in the inauguration of Premier Energies Limited's new manufacturing facility for solar modules and cells, located in Hyderabad's E-City. This was the second leg of the company's Rs 1,000 crore investment which was announced four years ago.
Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, company founder and Chairman Surender Pal Singh and MD Chiranjeev Saluja were also present for the program.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao said, "Telangana has been offering special incentives for industries offering employment to local youth. I am happy to see Premier launch this new unit, which was built at a cost of Rs 483 crore in a record 18 months, as it will create many jobs locally. Telangana occupies the second position in the country in solar production and we want to keep increasing investments to the sector. That is why it gives me great pleasure to launch the company's Greenfield Project. Premier's interest in our state's solar energy sector is heartening."
"We are sure that the Greenfield Project will do much to augment the state's solar energy capacity. We also hope that the company will increase its investment to Rs 1,200 crore by 2023," he added.
Premier Energies plans to produce solar modules and cells with a capacity of 4 gigawatts by 2023.
