Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today launched the much-hyped IT hub in Khammam in the presence of ministers Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Mahmood Ali and Prashant Reddy, MP Nama Nageshwar Rao and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister vowed to expand the IT sector in the tier-II cities and towns of the state.
"The establishment of the IT towers, which are being built at a cost Rs 15 crore, will push the state's economy higher, and will provide jobs to locals. In fact, 16 IT firms have already agreed to set up their businesses here. Once the towers are completed, the second phase of the expansion of the sector will also be started in Khammam. The TRS government will also continue to develop the sector in all the tier-II towns of the state. The state's IT exports have already increased to about Rs 1.40 lakh crore owing to the government's commitment to growth," he said.
The minister expressed his hope that the government's efforts to develop the industry would continue to yield positive results, and enable Telangana to soon become the largest exporter of IT products and services in the country.
Rao then added that the state was fast becoming the most sought-after destination not only for IT but also for other sectors including education, medical, pharmaceuticals and health.
During his visit, KTR also participated in several other developmental programs including inspecting the road-widening works at B T Road in Pandurangapuram, and inaugurating the Mini Tank Bund at Khanapuram Haveli.
