Deposing in the defamation case that he filed against her, BRS working president K T Rama Rao today said in the Nampally special court that his reputation had been tarnished by comments made by State Endowments Minister Konda Surekha.
The court recorded KTR's deposition for 30 minutes in the case.
In his testimony, KTR said that Surekha's remarks were deeply objectionable, especially considering his long-standing career in public service. When asked by the judge to specify the comments, KTR declined, citing his reluctance to repeat derogatory statements, particularly as they were made by a woman, and instead submitted a written complaint to the court detailing Surekha's accusations.
"A woman minister in a responsible position made comments that damaged my image. Konda Surekha accused me of being a drug addict and organizing rave parties. The witnesses in this case - Dasoju Sravan, Balka Suman and Satyavati Rathod - have known me for 18 years. After seeing Surekha's comments on television, they contacted me to express their concern. Her remarks have hurt my reputation," he said.
KTR asserted that Surekha's comments were intended to harm both him and the BRS.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for October 30.
