Flagging off 70 mini-sewer jetting vehicles today on the occasion of World Environment Day, Telangana IT & Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao said that the state government had pressed into service the latest machinery as part of transforming Hyderabad into a world class city.
KTR said that the state government had been taking all possible measures to fulfill its promise of making the capital a world class city and the state into Bangaru Telangana, and that this initiative, to eliminate manual scavenging and clear blockages quickly, was the latest in a long list of them.
"We have pressed into service these 70 vehicles for now as a start, and will procure more such vehicles if needed," he said.
The minister also distributed bacteria-proof dresses to the crew of the vehicles.
The machines will be used from today itself.
KTR also exhorted the officials concerned to take immediate measures to flush out the flood waters during the monsoon season.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, ministers Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Padma Rao, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and others were present.
