100% Sewage Treatment In Hyderabad By September: KTR

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao has said that 100% sewage treatment would be done in Hyderabad by September of this year.
Speaking at a program after inaugurating a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) constructed with a capacity of 15 MLD at a cost of Rs 66.16 crore at Kokapet today, the minister said that plans were being drawn up to treat the complete sewage generated in the twin cities, and that the State government was setting up 31 sewage treatment plants at a cost of Rs 3,866 crore.
Aiming to make Hyderabad the first city in the country to have 100% sewage treatment, the State government had expedited work on these plants, and the works had reached their final stage, KTR claimed.
"Of the 31 STPs which are being constructed in three phases, the construction of the Kokapet STP has been completed and it is now functional. In addition, the trial run of the Durgam Cheruvu STP, built with a capacity of 7 MLD, has also been successful," KTR said.
Earlier, KTR inaugurated the ORR-Narsingi interchange. The interchange built by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) at a cost of Rs 29.5 crore would offer great relief to commuters going to Manchirevula, Kokapet, Gandipet and Shankarpally, he said. The facility would also be useful to commuters going to Langar Houz and its vicinity, he added.
Minister for Education Sabitha Indra Reddy, MP Ranjith Reddy, Rajendra Nagar MLA Prakash Goud, MA & UD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar and others were present.
