TRS working president and Telangana minister K T Rama Rao today addressed a meeting of the city's business community at a hotel in Begumpet, and urged it to support the TRS to ensure the continued growth and development of Hyderabad.

Promising to protect the interests of all the people in the city, as well as its cosmopolitan culture, he sought the support of the entrepreneurs of the state in the upcoming GHMC elections.

He also highlighted the various achievements of the TRS government. Saying that though there were apprehensions about the party when it had first come to power, he claimed that it had been able to resolve issues of power and water supply very quickly.

"Though our predecessor Kiran Kumar Reddy had mismanaged the problems of power,?water, industry, and law and order, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had resolved all those issues in a systematic manner soon after the formation of Telangana," he said.

The minister added that the TRS had addressed various other issues as well, including ensuring law and order, enhancing the infrastructure in the state, and completing several long-pending irrigation projects.

Under the party's rule Telangana had also achieved rapid growth, he said.

Rao assured the entrepreneurs that the party would continue to work for the people and for the growth of Hyderabad.

He also expressed his displeasure at the gimmicks of the BJP and the Congress to gain votes in the elections, and claimed that the two parties had only hindered development in the state.

The TRS leader specifically attacked the BJP for misguiding the people and attempting to stir up communal tensions for the sake of votes.

"Ours is a city of cosmopolitan culture, and the government is committed to protecting this tradition. While we have been implementing different welfare schemes to help the poor and destitute people, farmers,? women and students, the Opposition has only tried to create chaos. The BJP is raking up communal issues and spreading hatred just for votes.?Why is it accusing the Rohingyas and other immigrants of overstaying after it was the BJP-led union government that gave them voter cards and Aadhaar cards in the first place? Let me warn everyone that those who try to disturb the peace of the city will face harsh action," he said.

KTR also expressed surprise at the involvement of the BJP's national leadership in the party's election campaign, and asked why many union ministers had come seeking votes after having denied the state funds for flood relief and development.

He singled out BJP leader G Kishan Reddy for special censure, asking how he was commenting on the city's development after being unable to procure funds from the Centre for the same.

The minister then reiterated his appeal to the businessmen to support the TRS in the upcoming elections, and urged them to teach the BJP a lesson for its "divisive" ways.
