Senior Congress leader and former MLC Konda Murali today appeared before the party's Disciplinary Committee at Gandhi Bhavan to present his explanation regarding complaints lodged by Warangal leaders.
Leaders from the former Warangal district, including several MLAs, MLCs and prominent party figures, had recently filed a complaint with the party high command against minister Konda Surekha and Murali, her husband. They had accused the couple of acting independently, failing to coordinate with other party members, and sidelining them in decision-making.
The leaders urged AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud to take disciplinary action. Following this, the Disciplinary Committee issued a notice to Murali seeking his response.
Murali then submitted a six-page letter to the Committee chairman and MP Mallu Ravi, giving his explanation. However, the panel then issued a fresh showcause notice asking for another written explanation. In connection with this, Murali appeared before the committee for the second time.
Speaking to the media later, Murali said that he was loyal to the Congress and committed to following its directives. "My aim is to see Rahul Gandhi become Prime Minister. I have already assured the Disciplinary Committee that everyone will work together for the local body elections. I have answered all the questions posed by the committee," he said.
Mallu Ravi said that the committee had reviewed the disputes among the Warangal leaders and also the issue concerning MLA Anirudh Reddy. He added that no complaints had been filed against Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, and that no matter involving him had come before the committee.
