Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S A Sampath Kumar met the state DGP M Mahender Reddy asking him to restore their gunmen as the High Court had delivered its verdict restoring their membership of the Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to the media after submitting a memorandum to the DGP at the latter's office on Thursday, Komatireddy said that they had explained everything to the DGP.
"The government has provided gunmen to many TRS leaders who have no public following. We told the DGP that minister G Jagdeesh Reddy and Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham were in fact being investigated in murder cases. And leaders with plenty of following like Sampath Kumar and me are being denied gunmen," he said.
The MLA said that Kumar and he would stage a 48-hour hunger strike at Jantar Mantar if the TRS government failed to restore their facilities.
"We will once again approach the court and file a contempt of court petition," he said.
"The police has also filed cases against Congress activists for celebrating the High Court verdict. We will not keep quiet and will lay siege to the DGP's office if the police files illegal cases against our party activists," Komatireddy added. He alleged that the police were beating Congress activists like they were buffaloes in the police stations.
Sampath Kumar said that they had asked the DGP to follow the High Court verdict. "The TRS is trying to suppress our voices. The government has to restore all due facilities to us. The DGP is trying to skirt the issue. The police inaction will attract a contempt of court case. We will go to the court once again," he warned.
