Rumours are doing the rounds that the Telangana Congress is going to experience another serious shock in the form of Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and his brother and MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy defecting to the TRS.
Speculation is rife in political circles that the brothers, referred to as the "Komatireddy Brothers", are going to shift their loyalties to the ruling Party in the first week of June, most probably on June 6, and that they had already discussed the same with their followers. They are likely to join the TRS in presence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in a huge public meeting in their bastion, Nalgonda.
The Congress, which is facing serious headwinds in the State, will have to bear further depletion if the Komatireddy brothers indeed defect. The brothers showed their strength last year in the local body and the MLC elections by orchestrating thumping victories. The brothers have however been maintaining a distance from the Congress' activities for the last several months.
Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy however condemned the rumours outright, and said that he would not change his Party, and would seek his political future only in the Congress. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and his followers however failed to respond to the rumors. This has led some to believe that only Venkat Reddy will defect to the TRS for now, and the brothers would remain in different political parties.
Meanwhile, rumours are also doing the rounds that Malkajgiri MP Malla Reddy, a TDP member, in also likely to join the TRS.
Malla Reddy has reportedly decided that it would be practical to join the TRS now as the voters had given a clear verdict in the recent GHMC elections in favour of the Party. He is likley to join the TRS on June 2 in the presence of KCR at Telangana Bhavan.
