Congress leader and MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today addressed a general body meeting of the Pedda Amberpet Municipality, which comes under his constituency, Bhongir.
At the meeting, he made clear his commitment towards the development of Pedda Amberpet.
"I realise that the municipality is currently full of problems. However, I assure you that I will secure the funds required to resolve each of these problems. I will get funds from the Centre for its development. I have already chalked out plans for the construction of a walking track and for the beautification of the town, and am currently working on a plan for an underground drainage system, and will hand over a proposal for the same to the state government as soon as I am finished with the planning process," the MP said.
He also said that he had previously got funds worth Rs 545 crore sanctioned for the road expansion of the Vijayawada national highway from L B Nagar to Andol Maisamma, and added, "I hope to be able to get clearance for the building of two flyovers in the municipality as part of the expansion plans for the Vijayawada highway. This will likely bring down the number of fatal road accidents on the highway. Further, I am working to get clearance for a new road that will make the commute from Visakhapatnam to Chhattisgarh easier. The proposed road will run from Gourelli to Bhadrachalam."
Turning to address an ecological issue, Reddy said that the municipality was being polluted by the drain water and effluent waste being released from Hyderabad, and said that he would commit himself to deal with the problem.
He then alleged that the state government had sanctioned only Rs 200 crore for the revitalisation of the Musi river despite his repeated demands for more funds, and said that he would personally take up the matter with the Centre and bring funds for the Musi revitalisation project.
