Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy on Saturday asked the state government whether it was necessary to give Rythu Bandhu money to rich farmers of the state, too.
He said that he had alone got Rs 3 lakh under the Rythu Bandhu scheme so fra, and asked the government whether a rich leader like him needed the money under the scheme.
He made these remarks while participating in the discussion on various budget demands for grants, in the state Assembly.
He said that Rythu Bandhu was a very good scheme for the poor farmers, but that the state government was squandering tax-payers' money by giving money to all the rich farmers and landlords of the state, too, under the scheme.
He urged the government to stop giving money to the rich farmers and use that to provide various kinds of subsidies to the farmers.
