Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy today made striking remarks directed at senior party member and former minister Jana Reddy, accusing him and a few others of acting like Dhritarashtra to hinder his chances of securing a ministerial position.
Rajagopal Reddy attended the oath-taking ceremony for the new committee of the Choutuppal Agricultural Market on Sunday, where he shared notable insights regarding the ministerial post.
He said that ministerial roles should not be given based on how much one pleaded, but rather on one's capability.
"A minister post is not an ornament but a responsibility. Telangana was ruled by a family party in the past, and ministerial posts were given to those who bowed down to them. However, the Congress is a national party, and works for the poor and weaker sections. If I am given a ministerial post, it will not be like a crown. I will consider it a responsibility. It is very painful when a person like me has to repeatedly ask for a ministerial post," Rajagopal Reddy said.
He expressed disappointment that Jana Reddy who had been a minister for three decades was now claiming that ministerial roles should be allocated to MLAs from the Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts.
"Although ministers were given responsibilities for the Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar and Medak districts in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress candidates from those districts did not secure seats as MPs. However, though I was just an MLA, I was successful in getting the Congress candidate for the Bhuvanagiri Lok Sabha constituency to win," Rajagopal Reddy added.
