Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman M Kodandaram on Saturday announced that the committee was likely to soon launch a new political party, upon popular demand.
Speaking to the media after a meeting to discuss the committee's future course of action, the TJAC chief said that the party would be different from conventional political parties, but did not say when he would float the party of what its main agenda would be.
While it is unlikely that the proposed party will be able to win any seats, it can split the votes of other parties if it appeals to the youth (especially the unemployed ones, who Kodandaram has been trying to rally).
Kodandaram repeated his allegation that the TRS government was not sincere about tackling the issue of unemployment, and demanded that the state announce job vacancies and release a calendar to fill all the vacant posts.
He also claimed that the government was denying the TJAC permission to hold public meetings, and said that they would still go ahead with the Koluvula Kotlata meet on November 30 at the Saroornagar grounds with permission from the court.
The police had given permission to the TJAC to organize a public meeting at the Saroornagar grounds earlier, but the TJAC could not conduct it due to the suppressive tactics of the government, he alleged. Stating how it had become a Herculean task to hold large meetings, Kodandaram demanded that the government revive Dharna Chowk at Indira Park.
The TJAC would also organize the Amarula Spoorthi Yatra in Nalgonda district on December 9 and 10, he said.
The TJAC chief also waded into the equal salary for equal work issue, and also demanded that the Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities provide jobs to locals.
