Union minister G Kishan Reddy will flag off train no 12862 Mahabubnagar-Visakhapatnam Express from the Mahabubnagar railway station on May 20 in the presence of Telangana minister V Srinivas Goud, Mahabubnagar MP Srinivas Reddy, Mahabubnagar Zilla Parishad Chairperson Swarna Sudhakar Reddy, Mahabubnagar Municipal Chairman K C Narsimlu and other public representatives and senior railway officials.
Mahabubnagar is an important city in the southern Telangana region, and is well-connected through the railway network. Earlier, there was no direct railway connectivity between Mahabubnagar and the coastal Andhra Pradesh region. To mitigate this, the railway ministry has approved the extension of train nos 12861 and 12862 Visakhapatnam-Kacheguda-Visakhapatnam Express up to Mahabubnagar from May 20, 2023.
The extended train will provide direct transport for the people travelling from Mahabubnagar to major cities of Andhra Pradesh including Rayanapadu (Vijayawada), Eluru, Rajahmundry, Annavaram and Visakhapatnam.
The train has also been provided stoppages at the Jadcherla, Shadnagar and Umdanagar railway stations, which will be beneficial for the people of those regions.
Further, the train has also been inducted with LHB coaches, providing a comfortable travel experience with modern amenities and enhanced safety features.
