Kishan Reddy Lays Stone For First Epigraphy Museum
The union minister and Telangana BJP president today laid the foundation stone for the construction of the country's first epigraphy museum, in Hyderabad.
Union Minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy today laid the foundation stone for the construction of the country's first epigraphy museum, in Hyderabad.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, he said, "The inscriptions to be put up on display in the musuem reveal the history and ancient traditions of our country. We can see what our forefathers wrote on stones, temple pillars, prominent monuments, walls, iron sheets, gold ornaments and sticks. We need to protect such inscriptions. We know that the Mughals and the Mohammedans who attacked our country in the past destroyed many inscriptions with barbaric acts on a large scale. We need to protect the surviving inscriptions."
He emphasized that the inscriptions weren't about only the histories of kings and the country - they also contained details of administrative methods and systems, welfare activities, traders, rituals, religious diversity, social life, arts, culture and names of prominent persons.
Reddy emphasized that this history should be preserved for future generations by preserving the inscriptions using the available software and digitization technologies.
He also alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had not allotted land to the museum although he (Kishan Reddy) had written several letters to him on the issue, and that a decision was taken to locate the epigraphy museum in the Salar Jung Museum, which was under the control of his (Kishan Reddy's) department.
