Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy today held a video conference with the bigwigs of the Telugu film industry.
He spoke with them on the problems being faced by the film industry due to the ongoing lockdown.
Film producer D Suresh Babu, director Teja, Gemini Kiran, Tripuraneni Varaprasad, Damu Kanuri, Vivek Kuchibotla, Anil Shukla, Abhishek Agarwal, Sharat, Prashant and Ravi took part in the video conference.
The film personalities brought the issues of permission to hold shootings, opening of movie theatres, captive power, piracy, cinema releases on OTT, regional GST and TDS into focus.
Responding to the issues, Reddy assured them that that they would soon get permission to shoot movies in the state, and also that the government was planning to open all the theatres in the country on the same day.
He also said that the government would take steps to stop international cinema piracy, and consider a regional GST rate to encourage regional movies.
He also promised to talk to the power minister about captive power for the film industry.
Reddy also said that he would talk to the Chief Ministers of all the states and UTs of the country to allow the shootings of Telugu films in their states/UTs, including in Jammu and Kashmir.
He invited prominent persons from Telugu, Tamil and Hindi cinema for a meeting later to discuss on all the issues related to the industry.
