CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy reviews the plantation and the lake-conservation programs, along with the construction of the Hyderabad Metro Rail, and other such projects.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reviewed the rainfall situation and relief measures with the Chief Secretary Dr P K Mohanty and other officials this morning at the camp office.
The Chief Secretary informed the CM that the previously-incessant raining had more or less stopped, and that relief measures were being implemented, wherever necessary.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the plantation programme in the state and the planting of 8 crore saplings.
He instructed that all the district collectors, Forest department officials, and municipalities must take up the plantation programme and ensure that the program is completed in the next two months.
Kiran Kumar Reddy reviewed the plantation programme in the GHMC area, in particular. For his part, the Chief Secretary, P K Mohanty, brought the CM upto speed with regards to the particulars of the plantation programme as was being implemented by the GHMC, the HMDA, the Metro Water Board, the Forest department, the Irrigation Department, the Panchayat Raj and other departments.
Kiran Kumar Reddy revised the GHMC's target for the program from 1 lakh to 2 lakh saplings. He also enquired about the GHMC's lake conservation program that had been proposed for 108 lakes. The CM enhanced this number to 200 lakes, and asked the Chief Secretary to look into the matter of government funding for these plantation and lake conservation programs.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the Hyderabad Metro Rail construction, and that of the program for the development of public transport. (INN)
