Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the Chief Secretary Dr. P K Mohanty and other senior officials of the state to set up a separate unit for emergency rescue operations.
He instructed that officials of the fire and the emergency departments should be better-trained to deal with possible emergency situations and that they should be provided with modern equipment.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also reviewed the ongoing rescue and relief measures in the City Light Hotel
collapse incident, with the Chief Secretary Dr. P K Mohanty and other senior officials in Secretariat, this afternoon.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to compensate people who have been permanently maimed by the incident in the same way that the families of the deceased are being compensated.
The Chief Minister announced a monetray amount of Rs. 25,000 each for those who have been seriously injured. He also announced that the government will bear all medical expenses for their treatment.
The CM also assured that the officials will be directed to provide the injured with the best medical care.
The Chief Secretary announced that the death toll is 13 while 12 people are being treated in the hospital. He also announced that some more people (dead or alive) may still be trapped under the debris of the collapsed building. (INN)
