Pressurise Centre Over KG Basin Issue: Farmers
The Rythu Sangam general secretary comes down heavily on the central government for allotting gas from the KG Basin to Maharashtra while neglecting AP's interests.
State Rythu Sangam general secretary Ravula Venkaiah, on Tuesday, came down heavily on the central government for allotting gas from the KG Basin to Maharashtra and other states while neglecting the interests of Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to media persons at Madira in Krishna district after arriving there to take part in the Rythu Poru Baata program, Venkaiah said that AP, which itself has been hit by a power crisis, would be affected with the allotment of gas to Maharashtra.
He also criticized the ministers and the MPs from the state for being mute spectators at a time when union minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was making the decision on the allotment of KG Basin's gas to other states.
He demanded that the ministers and MPs to mount pressure on the Centre to restore the gas supply to Andhra Pradesh immediately, to overcome the ongoing power crises in the state.
He also condemned the state government for supplying coal from Singareni Collieries to other states and not using it to generate power within AP. (INN)
