In response to the outcome of the Delhi Assembly elections, in which the AAP led by Arvind Kejriwal faced defeat and the BJP secured a majority, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud today said that two factors for the defeat of Kejriwal's party were Kejriwal's alliance with the BRS and Kejriwal's perception of the Congress as an adversary.
The TPCC president claimed that Kejriwal's association with the BRS had inflicted significant damage on the AAP's standing. The allegations involving Kejriwal and his associates taking bribes from KCR's daughter Kavitha among others in return for liquor licenses had undermined the AAP's credibility, Goud said.
"Kejriwal was able to establish a national presence with the emphasis on corruption-free governance; however, the allegations surrounding the liquor scandal have significantly damaged his reputation and undermined the integrity of the Aam Aadmi Party," Goud said.
Kejriwal's choice to reject a coalition with the Congress also inadvertently benefited the BJP in the elections, he said.
