Accusing Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao of trying to gain 'cheap publicity', Minister For Civil Supplies and Legislative Affairs D Sridhar Babu on Sunday said that mere threats of bringing in a no-confidence motion would not work unless backed up with proper numbers.
The Minister said that KCR had not got even a remote chance of introducing the no-confidence motion, let alone of pulling down the government, since he lacked the support of the number of MLAs required.
As per rules, a no-confidence motion can only be introduced if at least one-tenth of the House strength supports the move. In the case of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the TRS needs to have at least 30 MLAs supporting it to introduce the motion.
The Minister also revealed that he would write to the Congress high command to respect the sentiments and aspirations of Telangana people and take an early decision on the formation of the Telangana state.
Reacting on the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee's call to employees to extend support to non-cooperative agitation, the Minister said the employees should extend support to the government as the decision on Telangana was with the Centre.
Reacting to the complaints received in the Rachabanda program, Sridhar Babu said that the government would take a decision on the complaints after discussing them in a cabinet meeting.
