Congress leaders and former ministers Mohammad Ali Shabbir and D Sridhar Babu on Saturday said that there was nothing new in the Governor's address to the joint session of the Telangana Legislature.
Reacting to the Governor's address, they alleged that it was nothing but TRS propaganda.
Shabbir Ali alleged that the Governor had merely recited an election speech of KCR. He said that it would have been good if the Governor instead spoke about the loan waivers to farmers, pensions, free double bedrooms, unemployment allowance, jobs and hiked retirement age of government employees promised by the TRS.
Party MLA Sridhar Babu said that the Governor had repeated the same issues mentioned in the Congress manifesto. He alleged that the Governor had lied over surplus electricity, and slammed him for blaming the earlier governments on the issue. He claimed that the credit for achieving surplus status in the electricity sector went to the Congress, and that it was the reforms introduced by his party had led to the surplus power situation.
Another party MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy said that several farmers did not receive benefits under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He demanded that the state government issue a white paper on the issue.
Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said that the Governor's speech had political criticism of the opposition parties, and that the address was also filled with half-truths. He demanded that the state government reveal the timeline to implement the TRS' election promises.
