KCR To Inaugurate Begumpet-Balkampet Link Road
The 1.41 km 4-lane link road will reduce the distance by 2 km for travel from Kukatpally, Balanagar, Fathenagar and Balkampet towards Secunderabad.
Hyderabad | 2nd October 2014
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will inaugurate the link road connecting Begumpet to Balkampet on the occasion of Dassera on Friday.
The Begumpet-Balkampet 1.41 km 4-lane link road has been constructed at a cost of Rs 45 crores.
The project, which commenced in October 2007, was quite challenging as it had a huge area of about 30,000 sq m (7.5 acres) in the central business district of the city with 3 bridges including an RUB.
The project got delayed primarily due to stiff resistance from property owners in acquisition of properties. There were also delays in the shifting of utilities like electrical towers, HT lines & LT lines, water supply and sewerage lines, and the grounding and completion of RUB by the railways.
Once opened, the link road will reduce the distance by 2 km for travel from Kukatpally, Balanagar, Fathenagar and Balkampet towards Secunderabad. It will benefit the residents of Brahmanvadi, Begumpet, Nature Cure MMTS Station (people staying close to it, that is), Indira Gandhi Puram, Renuka Nagar, Balkampet, Brindavan Colony and Fathenagar.
The link road will also reduce the traffic congestion on NH-9 from Ameerpet to Sanathnagar / Kukatpally, besides easing traffic on a section of the S P Road - from Rajiv Circle and the Greenlands flyover.
The traffic on the Begumpet ROB will also get reduced by nearly 20%. Nearly 60,000 vehicles are likely to ply on the road daily for the next 30 years, according to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
The Chief Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the construction of 396 houses at IDH and 4 adjacent colonies in New Bhoiguda of Secuderabad on Friday. (INN)
